"Don't Stop Until You Get There..."

“Family isn’t an important thing. It’s everything.” -Michael J. Fox

About Coleen

Co-owner Coleen Dahlem, an Orangeburg resident and frequent Rail Trail walker, has spent the last 16 years teaching second grade in the NYC DOE. After deciding it was time for a change, she has re-ignited her passion for baking and all things smoothie and traded in her lesson plans for baking sheets. An avid love of general stores is the inspiration behind the Rail Trail Mercantile. Mixing old and new, the merc will bring its patrons goods such as vintage candy, candles, housewares, store-made dry goods, and much more.

About Kerri

Co-Owner and head chef Kerri Horgan has been dishing out her cuisine all around Rockland County for almost 10 years. Kerri is a 3-time career changer. She is classically trained and graduated from The Institute for Culinary Education. She began her career working for Chef Alex Guarnaschelli at Butter Midtown and hasn’t stopped chasing her dream of having a place of her own until she got here- The Rail Trail Cafe & Mercantile. Rather than just a good meal, Kerri hopes to bring a finer diner dining experience to our patrons every time they visit.

In the News.....

The Rail Trail Cafe is coming soon to Blauvelt.

The “vintage cafe and mercantile” is coming from Chef Kerri Horgan.

"Chef Kerri Horgan, who some in Rockland may remember from Nanuet Restaurant, D'Vine Bar and Cafe Diem, is opening a cafe with her sister, Coleen Dahlem."

TZHS ART

Cyclists and walkers on the Town of Orangetown's Joseph B. Clarke Rail Trail have been slowing down to admire the mural project in progress in the tunnel beneath Orangeburg Road this summer--and complimenting the Tappan Zee High School artists creating the public artwork.
